A date!?!

Rambling as that it was.  I prepared Craig earlier in the week and early Saturday morning that we had no responsibilities and we were doing something together.  I even said you have until 2 or 3 Saturday afternoon to accomplish what you need around the home and then we are off.  I even suggested a few options of what we could do, but reality was I did not even care as long as it was time together.  So at 3 p.m. we were in the car driving west on the 76 toward Oceanside.  We did not even know our destination but our date had begun.  Thinking the 5 south would be slow we traveled down the main "drag" in Oceanside just enough to be blasted out by the booming music from the car behind us and me to past judgment on the high schoolers making out while sitting on the sidewalk holding their cigarettes in their hands.
Our first stop was Carlsbad and a strolling walk past a few quaint stores and the coaster station.  We came upon a farmers' market and decided to check out their wares.  Fresh strawberries and asparagus caught our eyes and enticed our taste buds and a purchase was made.  I had never eaten raw asparagus and decided it was delicious (the rest of this week it has been thrown into salads and enjoyed.)  More strolling and then a jump into the car and our next destination.
Craig drove through UCSD campus to show where he had taken many a lunch hour power walk while he had worked at Scholarpoint.  Down toward LaJolla and the cove was the next visit.  Amazing we found a parking spot right away (if you have ever been there you know finding a spot is amazing!) and pulled right in.  More strolling along the beach front, looking at pelicans, watching the waves and people and enjoying the sun reflecting off the ocean.  We were aware of the "Cow Parade" in La Jolla.  40 life sized fiberglass cows transformed into works of art by San Diego artists to benefit Rady's Children Hospital.  CowParadeLaJolla.com   We discovered about 10 of them in about 1/2 hours time and took our picture with a few favorites.  Memories of bison in Yellowstone and bears in Berlin.
Now I was getting hungry QUICKLY so we were off again to check out movies at AMC theaters (we had free tickets) and a dining spot.  Mission Valley was the next spot and after seeing the PeiWei Restaurant that was all that was on my mind, FOOD and good food.  We forgot the movie and enjoyed a spicy meal of PeiWei spicy chicken, honeyseared shrimp, brown rice and lots of fortune cookies.  Yummy!!!!
8 p.m., food settling in our stomachs I was getting sleepy but we went on to Kohl's in SanMarcos exchanged wrongly sized shirts for Craig and a cute flip flop purchase for me.  A full day and evening, fun, good conversation, good food and all with my sweetheart.  It was rambling indeed.
