Historical and Cultural Kauai

Kauai's history and culture is an integral part of the island.  Many areas are sacred and care is taken for awareness and respect to be shown.  As told to us, although Kauai is the oldest among the islands, the history given only dated back into the 1700's.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints quaint chapel in Kapa'a.  There are 4 LDS church buildings on the island of Kauai.

Fern Grotto, only reachable by boat.  We took a 3 man kayak up the Wailua River to view it.

Allerton Botanical Gardens, grounds purchased in 1930's. Beautiful botanical gardens only assessable by tour.  Site of several movies, like Pirates of the Caribbean and Jurassic Park.

Russian Fort Elisabeth held 1817 and abandoned in 1854.
