Capo Zafferano Lighthouse

If you just take a look at google maps you can find places around you to explore.

Anziano Garrett pulled up the Sicily coastline map near Bagheria and discovered several little villages that had sights to offer. One of those places was the Capo Zafferano Lighthouse built in 1884 and once used as navy barracks. It is deserted now and a short walk along a narrow road off of SP23.

We took along a couple of willing cohorts, even though we and they didn't know what to expect.

There was a sanctuary to along the path for a place to ponder if wanted.

The path was beautiful and we were the only ones there. Although we did pass a few homes that are looking out to the sea.

We saw there was a grotto below the lighthouse and found a path that took us part of the way there. After that there was some rocky ground to cover but it was worthy it.  I highly recommend sturdy shoes and maybe even gloves because the rocks are very rough.
