November 29, 2015 - Volcan Mountain Trail
Craig and I have been exploring some new hikes in San Diego County and we found this little charming one out by Julian. While we were there we saw where some of the apple orchards were, an overview of Julian, and discovered birds sometimes soar for fun.
The Volcan Mountain Trail is a fairly easy hike about 4 miles round trip. At the top we had a picnic and enjoyed views of Julian and the Anza Borrego Desert. The trail has been well cared for. Because we went on a Monday morning there was only two other people on the trail and maybe also because it was threatening to rain.
After our hike we drove into the village of Julian, enjoyed apple pie and hot chocolate plus stopped at a fruit stand and picked up a few apples. It was another delightful day with my companion.
I love hiking San Diego County.
